  2. Collin in one of the article is said Groupon already turned down a buyout from Google. I think that they are separate by complementary companies. Groupon will survive over the next five years because people love to go out and do stuff with friends especially when they can get it half price. Also companies like Groupon because it's a good promotion tool and way to gain more customers.

I think as you do max that Groupon will suvive over the next five years becasue the commpany tailers to the needs of the people. Also well as the ceo of Groupon is not afraid of failure because he thought it would at the start. Failure equal success later on.

  4. In my opinion, Groupon will develop if they keep the competitors down and don't sell themselves to some kind of corporation. They're selling business relationships, a resource no business can survive without: if they want to sell, they need customers. Keeping that in mind, Groupons's product will always be demanded (more or less).
Out of 4 markets mentioned in the article, I would choose small businesses as the most perspective one. There are very few small businesses that can survive without working towards getting new customers, but it never harmed the business anyway. There is quite a long and difficult time between opening and starting to work for profit, in which some businesses manage to go broke. I think the idea behind Groupon is pretty awesome and will continue to work just fine if they adjust to changes in market.

  5. This is ted and I think that this company will survive because it is good for the consumer and the producer. It will help the growth of small busnesses out of the four markets mentioned in article.

  7. I agree with the people above in that I also feel groupons will continue to thrive as a company. People love the oportunities groupons provides. Because of these oportunities groupons will continue to thrive.

  9. I think Groupon will continue to survive. The idea behind Groupon is unique enough that they will not be overrun by the larger companies like Google. Although other companies do sell ads they use a slightly different system than Groupon. However, that being said, Groupon will need to continue to create new innovative ideas otherwise other companies will eventually create other products that are very similiar to Groupon's. Out of the four articles I think it will help the growth of small businesses the most. Coupons are a very good way to promote a business that is new and unknown. Groupon helps to establish a relationship between consumer looking for good prices, and the producer looking for a source of income.

  10. Groupons are an extremely intelligent business idea. Everyone needs relations with other companies to survive and whoever came up with a company that gets paid for doing a survive that a business needs is a genius. I think that Groupons will last because they have a great business that can only grow upwards.

  11. Along with what I already said, I think Groupon will be most beneficial with small businesses. Small businesses need to get their name out there and gain new customers. With out this, they fail. A unique company like Groupon can help with these problems and that's why small businesses will have the best chance of success.

  12. I think Groupon will defintely surive in the years to come. The company is off to a great start with an idea people want and now they are becoming well known around the nation. The only chance I see at failure is if Google decided to create their own version and use their resources to promate it above Groupon, however I don't forsee Google doing that and they would have to act on it soon. Small business will definitely benefit the most in my opinion. For one large companies already have their names out there and have a reputation. Also Groupon advertises and sells these places in specific cities. This is the exact kind of advertising small businesses need to compete with larger companies known nationwide.

  13. I think Groupon will survive the up coming years however to play the pessimist, the company will only survive if it doesn't out grow itself. To go from start-up to over 1 billion in two years is very impressive and begs the question of how well they are handling the large scale corporation. I'm sure other similar companies will soon start up and these companies have the advantage of seeing what worked for Groupon vs. what didn't and capitalizing on any weaknesses. I also think Groupons biggest market could come not from people in the US trying new things or the music industry, but more people in developing countries where free time and extra money are new ideas. This market could be much larger due to fewer preconceived notions about the activities Groupon is selling.

  14. Groupon seems to me like it will survive, as it serves a unique purpose and caters to the buyers wants. People will continue to want to take advantage of great deals, so the business will definitely continue. Like harry said, one chance of failure would be a bigger company like Google or even Facebook making their own version and making it more accessible. Of the four new markets mentioned in the article, I think small businesses have the most chance at success, because Groupon would solve a problem that all businesses have when they start: finding the finances to start their business. This makes this market most likely to succeed because many new businesses will jump on this oppourtunity at advertising before they open.

  15. Groupon is ridiculously profitable, growing fast and creating tons of pricing power via a category-owning brand across 165 U.S. markets. There's no longer clear network effects via its artificial minimum because deals always hit the minimum. Sometimes excess demand degrades the quality of the customer experience. New customization features help consumers and businesses (more relevant deals, less overcrowding) and will help the company grow.

  16. Groupon has mastered the idea of creating a system that greatly benefits not only the customer, but the business as well. This is a key component in the success of this company and leads me to believe that Groupon will survive, even thrive, over the next five years. In just two years Groupon has expanded into a billion-dollar company. This exponential growth in awareness of the company, paired with a constant flow of innovative ideas for the site will create an even larger growth in public awareness and net worth of the company, possibly surpassing that of Google. Of the four articles I think it will help the growth of small businesses the most. Coupons are a great way to spark public interest in an undiscovered, new business.

  17. I think Groupon will survive over the next five years, because it is helping create business realations. It's helping the economy by bringing new customers to businesses worldwide. The key is to make sure these customers keep coming back. Who doesn't like coupons? In this economy it's the perfect way for small businesses to stay afloat. Out of the 4 markets, the small businesses will benefit the most.

  18. You know Groupon will last for the next five years. I wouldn't call it a bubble or anything because coupons are still something of the past this is just an innovative form that really took off. The company will have to adapt to the large corporation. I don't know the company all too well so I don't know what they are doing to move forward but it seems that they are a young, successful, and on there way to making some serious money. Great idea though.

  19. I don't foresee a collapse; why would the demand steeply decline? Grupon effectively gives out free money to both parties involved, this sounds like any person/business/entity would be interested. I think Grupon's ability to finance small businesses will prove to be the most lucrative. In an age of tumultuous lending, the Grupon option should seem extremely attractive to a business owner simply because it reduces the uncertainty of attaining a loan as well as the fallout from a failed business venture.

  20. I think that this company won't decline; it only has room to expand. It offers "products" that are very appealing to people (especially since we are recovering from a recession) who are conciencious about finance. I also think that small buisness would be the most interested, because it would be a way of reaching out and advertising. This would also be good for Groupon, because it seems they are interested in exiciting and different buisnesses, which small buisnesses tend to offer a different experience.

  21. I think that Groupon will not only survive the next few years, but looking at it's recent success, it will grow in popularity. It's service is unique, and displays such a wide range of roducts that it can apply to a large percetage of the population. It's an attractive and fresh new idea that is a perfect fit for the demands people in this modern age. It's already grwoing in fame, and so far competition is not a problem. It seems clear to me that Grouon, if anything, will continue to grow in success, far beyond just five years.

  22. Groupon is now working in Russia, even in my city! :D They totally have some room to grow, we love good deals.

  23. Groupon will survive in the name of small businesses. It's service is unique, as was said, and it is popular to many. The opportunities it creates will never not be desired and I think it will even grow in popularity.

  24. Groupon will suvive over the next five years becasue the company meets the needs of the people. It's an cool new idea that is a fit for the demands people in this period of time. Its service is unique, and displays such a wide range of products that it can apply to a large part of the consumer base. There is no stopping this type of idea from growing and getting far really fast.

  25. I like that Groupon has allies. Their relationship with other companies will keep them going. They help each other make economic gain. The idea of Groupon is new and fun, people really like it. I think it's going to survive. No other business does what Groupon does so there is not a major competition issue.

  26. Well we definitely have developed a unanimous decision that Groupon will not collapse in the next five years, and will most likely strive even beyond that. It seems to have some benefits as far as it's genre and I too think it will stay strong.

    ReplyDelete
  27. There's no way Groupon will die within the next five years. People want to think they can beat the system by getting the 50-90% discount. My only concern with this idea would be: just because you get a good deal does that mean you have to continue through with it? Will the consumer of groupon end up spending more money because they got a discount when they wouldn't have spent the money in the first place? Also, in order to be a successful spin-off to groupon, you have to tailor, even moreso, to individuals specific wants. Virtually, you have to offer the exact same benefits as groupon, but make consumers feel as if they are getting even more.

  28. Just in cause you couldn't tell, everyone agrees that Groupon will most definitely last for the next five years. It is a very successful company and will continue to grow. However I do think that Google should try and buy Groupon. They are complimentary companies and would do well together.
